Summer house and greenhouse tidy up.

April 19th.

The summer house had it’s spring clean today ready for all the open garden dates when it becomes a ticket office.

Also tidied up the Pelargonium Greenhouse

Going potty.

April 23rd

Potted up the tall Cephalaria gigantea ( Giant Scabious ), Tagetes cinnabar, Bronze fennel, Dill and Cosmos dazzler. These have all been grown from seed. Some may be available for sale on the open day.

Patio furniture

April 24th

With a north facing patio, the white garden furniture develops a green shade during the winter months. In preparation for the open gardens a clean with the power washer today.

Oriential tea house facelift.

April 29th.

Painted the tea house and then porcelain washed and dried before putting out on display.

NGS posters.

May 6th

NGS posters advertising the open garden, 8 made ready for distributing around the village.

Pelargoniums.

May 8th

Potted up some of the Pelargoniums ready to go onto the patio and tested the water features to make sure they were both working okay.

Having a wild thyme.

May 9th

Gave the raise beds and timber work around the patio a quick lick of a wood preservative Wild Thyme.

Dahlias and Cana’s.

May 10th

Brought the dahlia’s and cana’s outside, planted some into large pots as the weather forecast is hot hot hot. Sadly only one canna has started growing after the winter.

Planted up the hanging baskets and put those out.

Iris and wisteria.

May 17th

We chose May 19th for our open day due to the Wisteria and Iris being at their peak, they did not disappoint.

May 19th

National Garden scheme open day at 19 Winnington Gardens.

    1. Thank you Eliza, I do get a positive feedback. I think people like the fact that here in the UK it’s not too big a garden, therefore they can relate to it and it is divided into rooms where you have different planting styles.

    1. You are right Cathy, however I am fortunate to have a brother and sister that could help on the Monday and Daughters and friends for the June weekend.
