Exploring Autumn’s Garden Beauty.

Many words have been spoken and written regarding the beauty of nature in autumn. Someone once said a picture paints a thousand words so here are some photos from the garden with a few words.

Prunus serrula with an attractive ivy creeping up its trunk.

In the Oriental garden the Acers, Magnolia, Ginkgo biloba and Hamamelis are all beginning to develop their seasonal colours.

The Wisteria’s autumn leaf colour is often overlooked. Here it is trained along the top of the Oriental Garden fence.

In the bed on the other side of the lawn is the Cornus sanguinea Midwinter Fire and Hydrangea quercifolia Burgundy, the latter one’s autumn leaf colour certainly lives up to its name.

The Cornus and Betula utilis Jacquemontii (syn Dorrenbos).

With the rear of the house facing north, I have here an increasing collection of shade-tolerant plants. Just started to flower is the Fatsia japonica ‘Spiders Web’. I do like its leaf colour.

The fern family is one that I am increasingly adding to here. They are mainly grown in pots, they can be a bit like snowdrops in so much as there can somtimes be only a small differance between them.
