The village of Pirton, Worcestershire, was originally part of the Croome Estate and is located one mile north of Croome Park (now owned by the National Trust). Pirton Court was historically the home of Viscount Deerhurst. The village church, St. Peters, containing elements dating back to the C12, with its unique black and white timber bell tower has recently been in need of substantial repairs to the bell tower, the clock and weather vane.
This small community has undertaken several imaginative fund-raising enterprises and since 2013 they have held a Christmas Tree Festival. These pictures are from our visit this year. ( The red glow in the pictures are from the over head heaters.)
There were 26 trees, each one decorated, by a family in the village, with a different theme, some for fun, others in memory of absent friends or family.

Warming cups of tea and cake were for sale in a marquee alongside the church.

A nice fundraiser, appealing to all ages. Maybe they need to do a ‘Go Fund Me’ appeal. The internet reaches millions of people.
We put up our tree last week – I love the twinkly lights and the lovely pine scent!

Christmas trees grow here, and Douglas fir grows wild, so I do not need one in my own home.

It is very much a traditional thing here to have a decorated 🌲 in the house over the Christmas festivities.

They originally required £40,000 Cathy which they achieved two years ago along with a lottery grant.They just do it for fun now and to build a small reserve fund.

What a beautiful array of Christmas trees decorated with imagination and love. I’ve not visited this year but Chester Cathedral has an annual Christmas tree festival with the trees decorated by local schools. It’s always quite magical. I’ve just finished decorating our tree which is sadly suffering from dropping needle syndrome. Wishing you a most Happy Christmas Brian and may 2018 treat you and your garden kindly.
